A permanent security post for camera trapping
نویسندگان
چکیده
As the use of camera traps in wildlife management in Australia rapidly increases, government agencies, private enterprises, universities and individuals are investing considerable amounts ofmoney in camera trap technology for research, monitoring and recreation. Often camera traps need to be placed along vehicle tracks or in obvious locations to detect animal activity. Consequently, units are frequently highly visible and therefore easily located by would-be thieves. We describe a field-tested security post design that increases security for both camera traps and data, whilst also offering a means of standardising placement. Additional keywords: carnivores, tracks. Received 29 February 2012, accepted 15 June 2012, published online 26 October 2012

Pedestrians Tracking in a Camera Network
With the increase of the number of cameras installed across a video surveillance network, the ability of security staffs to attentively scan all the video feeds actually decreases. Therefore, the need for an intelligent system that operates as a tracking system is vital for security personnel to do their jobs well. Tracking people as they move through a camera network with non-overlapping field...

Single nanoparticle studies of charge trapping and de-trapping in core/shell CdSe/ZnS nanocrystals incorporated into an insulating matrix and subjected to an external electric field demonstrate the ability to reversibly modulate the exciton dynamics and photoluminescence blinking while providing indirect evidence for the existence of a permanent ground state dipole moment in such nanocrystals. ...
متن کاملCan Camera Traps Monitor Komodo Dragons a Large Ectothermic Predator?
Camera trapping has greatly enhanced population monitoring of often cryptic and low abundance apex carnivores. Effectiveness of passive infrared camera trapping, and ultimately population monitoring, relies on temperature mediated differences between the animal and its ambient environment to ensure good camera detection. In ectothermic predators such as large varanid lizards, this criterion is ...
متن کاملAre we getting the full picture? Animal responses to camera traps and implications for predator studies
Camera trapping is widely used in ecological studies. It is often considered nonintrusive simply because animals are not captured or handled. However, the emission of light and sound from camera traps can be intrusive. We evaluated the daytime and nighttime behavioral responses of four mammalian predators to camera traps in road-based, passive (no bait) surveys, in order to determine how this m...
